Get your holly jollies on with this December to-do list |
You’ve got the city covered in lights and gift shopping is well underway, but that’s not all there is to do during the holidays. We’ve hit the pavement and done our research to bring you a full list of villages covered in lights outside of town to travel to, boozy seasonal cocktail kits to enjoy, escape rooms in Santa’s workshop where you and a couple friends save Christmas—and that’s just scratching the surface.

What to check out this month |
|
Dec 4–Jan 2 Go explore this Christmas village of 25,000 lights |
This weekend marks the first for Drummondville’s Village in Lights, a storybook Christmas town set up with outdoor fireplaces, an old-fashioned donut shop, a market, sleigh rides, holiday feast lunchboxes to bring home, and whole lot more for getting in the mood. Bring the kids, or bring out the kid inside you, by piling in the car and taking a trip less than a hour and half from the city. |
The best of the rest: |
Now Go digging for new vintage threads at this huge new shop: Looking to get fashionable? Want to give a second life to something secondhand? The new and huge three-floor vintage store Floh Market, stocked with the inventory of 18 different vendors, is now open on Saint-Denis Street and it’s perfect for shopping local and gift ideas.
Now–Dec 3, 2021 Check out this chic boutique high above the city: Today’s the day when SOUK Habitat’s doors on the 20th floor of Place Ville Marie are opening to the public. It’s a boutique unlike any other in the city with a highly curated location and selection. Anyone can visit, but you need to book a time slot first.
Now–Dec 31 Solve puzzles to save Christmas with these escape rooms: The Montréal-based escape room company A/MAZE has designed two COVID-friendly, Christmas-themed escape room experiences to check out at CF Fairview in Pointe-Claire, to solve riddles and puzzles in physical rooms and with VR headsets.
Take your takeout up a notch with these wine pairings |
|
If there’s one new hobby we’ve gladly welcomed into our lives since the beginning of the city’s lockdowns, it’s the enjoyment of wine. Thing is, moonlighting as a self-taught sommelier can get expensive. That’s why we consulted a resident expert at Time Out Market Montréal to pair four bottles—each for under $20—with four different dishes from each of the eateries open now, from Japanese karaage to Vietnamese chicken wings.
Thinking of staying in? We’ll send dishes from the best chefs of the city to you. Find out how to get delivery from Time Out Market Montréal right here.

|
|
Tinc Set |
The Barcelone-style rotisserie chicken, patatas bravas, fresh churros and wines of Tinc Set are moving into a full restaurant spot come January. |
| |
|
Café Péché |
Some days you just can’t even. That’s OK. Just leave your PJs on, get in the car, and go get a fried chicken sandwich or a breakfast hot dog that uses a pancake for the bun. |
|
|
Beau Temps |
Grab gourmet sandwiches like jambon buerre, brisket, fried fish with tartare sauce and more at this new Mile End address, crafted by the team behind the summer pop-up Parasol. |

We don't know who needs to hear this but...
At least Christmas music playing in malls and on the radio feels appropriate now, n’est pas?
