Time Out #7 | Friday 2 October, 2020
Pick a pumpkin, any pumpkin
It’s time to spend these crisper, more colorful days picking up a few pumpkins to carve and cook back home from any one of these farms outside the city. Throw on your best scarves and plaid, pack a couple pumpkin spice lattés, and take a trip with friends or the whole family to grab the greatest gourds, freshly-baked donuts and pies, and bottles of cider.
Get lost in a corn maze before the season ends
We may not be able to gather indoors, but that won’t keep us from getting a bit of festive fun in our schedules before the first frost hits. Plan a day trip to one of these corn mazes while the weather’s still good: There’s a huge variety surrounding the city that are both family-friendly and good for la gang, ranging from some costumed Halloween fun to fields you can spend hours getting lost in.
What to check out this month
Oct 9-10 Comedy galore online (and it’s all free)
With the fall edition of #quaratnineandchill now underway, we all could use a good laugh—you know, something a bit more lighthearted than the presidential debates. The good news is that Just For Laughs is launching a 100% virtual, 100% free series of events with over 100 artists on October 9 and 10. Check out the lineup full to burst with choice comics right here.
The best of the rest:
Oct 7-18 For film buffs and cinephiles: Quebec’s largest film festival is pulling out all the stops this month to deliver a completely revamped online version of itself. Check out everything that’s screening here.

Now-Oct 4 Montréal International Black Film Festival: For $49, filmgoers (or is it filmstayers?) can get access to 120 Films from 30 countries. It’s the boldest selection yet for Canada’s biggest Black film festival; get all the details you need right here.

Oct 1-Nov 30 Nab this takeout passport to the city: MTL à Table is selling $20 takeout “passports” for access to table d’hôte discounts, free appetizers or desserts with purchases, and more. A whopping 70 restaurants across the city are participating.
Thinking of staying in? Try Il Miglio’s
new menu
The Italian masters of comfort food at Time Out Market Montréal like to keep their menus as fresh as their pasta: If you drop in for takeout at the Market, try their seasonal ravioli with asiago and cauliflower that’s topped with chopped almonds and a truffle dust, their stick-to-your-ribs rigatoni al ragù di salsicci, or a thick slice of lasagna—or just ask what the pasta of the day is.

Don’t want to venture out? We’ll send dishes from the best chefs of the city to you. Order delivery from Time Out Market Montréal via Doordash right here. Oh, and did we mention delivery is free? You’re welcome.
What’s new in food?
How much do you think you know about Cambodian cuisine? While it shares some common ingredients and traits with Thai and Vietnamese, it’s still rich in its own flavours and unique dishes. That’s why Touk’s chef Chanthy Yen has started up a new fine dining series that aims to deepen Montrealers’ understanding of Cambodian food with hyper-creative tasting menus that are available for takeout.

Plus, here’s four of our top foodie picks you will want to check out this month.
