Opens Thu Halloween at Descanso |
Neither experienced from your car nor bent on scaring the gourd out of you, the monthlong Halloween at Descanso is bringing some fresh air and a whole lot of pumpkins to the botanical garden.

The 22 best Italian restaurants in L.A. |
If you think the food pyramid should just be a triangle with “carbs” written in the middle, then look no further than these restaurants. We’re kidding just a little bit: You’ll of course find an abundance of spots that offer stellar antipasti, meaty roasts and fresh seafood. But our list of L.A.’s best Italian restaurants doesn’t skimp on pasta either. Check out the full list here—or just a couple of our favorites below. Buon appetito!
Bestia |
L.A.’s best Italian restaurant—full stop—is open for dinner on its Arts District patio, and it also offers a rotating selection of pastas, desserts and entire meals available for pickup. |
Union |
Savor the signature squid ink lumache and a slice of olive oil cake either at your own home (via delivery) or on the pop-up sidewalk and on-the-street patios at this Pasadena restaurant. |

Pizzana |
You didn’t think we’d forget about pizza, did you? Westsiders can still get takeout and delivery from both the Brentwood and West Hollywood locations of this superlative pizzeria. |

Do you have a minute? |
2020: it’s seen a fair few twists, turns and regrettable hairstyles. As we grow closer to the end of it all (the year, we mean!), it’s a great time to take stock. In particular, we want to know what going out feels like for you. Have you been making the most of outdoor dining or are you never leaving the house again? Either way, tell us all about it and you'll have a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card! |

An Elf on the Shelf drive-through is coming to L.A. for Christmas |
We know it’s not even October yet, but we’re ready to think ahead to Christmas—starting with a drive-through from every parent’s favorite sort-of-creepy elf. From mid-November through early January, you’ll be able to roll through the Elf on the Shelf’s Magical Holiday Journey at Pomona’s Fairplex. The hourlong experience is set to include all sorts of glittering holiday scenes, like a toy workshop, gingerbread village and “Santa’s magical grotto” (for which, uh, we have some questions).
